Wednesday is DENIM DAY!

April is nationally recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Office of Civil Rights and Title IX will be hosting several events and programs this month to promote awareness around related topics, and we invite your participation. View our website for a list of all the SAAM events.

One of our signature initiatives is the Denim Day Campaign which will be observed on April 24th in Free Speech Alley from 11 am-1 pm. The Denim Day Campaign supports the deconstruction of victim-blaming rhetoric. All staff, faculty, and students are encouraged to make a social statement on April 24th by wearing denim/jeans as a visible means of solidarity against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. You may learn more information about the national, and international, observance of Denim Day on their website.

We are asking you to support the cause by sharing a picture or video to Instagram wearing denim on April 24th. Don’t forget to tag us @LSUOCRTIX and include at least one of the following captions:

●        I wear denim because I support survivors.

●        I wear denim because I am an ally.

●        I wear denim because I am an advocate.
