SACRIFICE: to give up something that is valuable to you in order to help another person. From an athletics perspective, the act of belonging on a team is a sacrifice- you are often practicing and competing for not only yourself but for others to experience the same thrill of victory. Collegiate student-athletes find themselves sacrificing in many ways both on and off their fields, courts, and pools. For academics to remain at the forefront of their long-term success, there is a sacrifice. When others take time for a mid-day nap, student-athletes are in the academic center with their tutors. When other grab a meal, student-athletes are often grabbing an intentional snack to get them through training. It can be tough, but these student-athletes of the month understand that value of hard work- in and out of the classroom!
The LSU Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA) recognizes student-athletes for their scholastic and community achievements each month. Student-athletes are chosen based on their commitment to academic success and for their devotion to volunteerism and service to the community.
