TLC April 2026: Can You Go Weeks Without Drinking?
Alcohol Awareness is about more than just drinking habitsโitโs about mental health, performance, and well-being. ๐ฏ๐
Did you know that alcohol is a depressant and can increase symptoms of anxiety and depression? Research shows that heavy or frequent alcohol use is linked to higher stress levels, disrupted sleep, difficulty with focus, and slower recoveryโboth mentally and physically. Nearly 1 in 3 people who experience anxiety or depression also struggle with alcohol misuse, highlighting how closely alcohol and mental health are connected.
LSU Athletics is committed to education, reducing stigma, and encouraging Student-Athletes to seek support if alcohol is affecting their lifeโor the lives of those they care about. Learning healthier ways to manage stress, emotions, and relationships can make a meaningful difference on and off the field.
You donโt have to navigate this alone. Reaching out is a sign of strength. ๐
If youโre looking for support along the way, LSU Athletics is here for both current student-athletes and our former student-athletes through our intentional mental health programming.
Sport Psychology & Counseling (SPC) support is available for our current student-athletes but reaching out directly to one of our internal mental health counseling professionals or working with your staff athletic trainer to help coordinate care. We offer confidential resources, guidance, and a space to focus on your well-being just as intentionally as you work on your performance. You donโt have to carry it alone. Starting the conversation can be the strongest move you make this year. ๐๐ฏ
