TLC January 2026: The New Year Brings a Fresh Mindset

As the new year begins, it’s easy to feel pressure to “do it all” or make sweeping changes. But real growth starts with realistic mental health and wellness goals—small, intentional steps that support you, not perfection. Progress looks different for everyone, especially for student-athletes balancing academics, training, competition, and life.

As you set goals for the year ahead, remember to lead with self-compassion. Mental health isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about caring for yourself. Some days will feel strong, others will feel heavy, and both are part of the journey.

If you’re looking for support along the way, LSU Athletics is here for both current student-athletes and our former student-athletes through our intentional mental health programming.

Sport Psychology & Counseling (SPC) support is available for our current student-athletes but reaching out directly to one of our internal mental health counseling professionals or working with your staff athletic trainer to help coordinate care. We offer confidential resources, guidance, and a space to focus on your well-being just as intentionally as you work on your performance. You don’t have to carry it alone. Starting the conversation can be the strongest move you make this year. 💜🐯

If you or a family member are experiencing any mental health issues, support is also available with Tiger Legacy Care. LSU Athletics student-athlete alumni and their families have priority access to select clinical programs. Our nationwide list of vetted and accredited providers in 50 states can include discounted provider pricing. Call the Tiger Legacy Care concierge call line at 866 LSU-9899 or email LSUHopeDesk.co for more information.
